John, first son of William of Thimbleby and Sarah (Davey), was born in Woodhall in 1835. He later met a spinster from Spilsby named Eliza, married her and had eight children:
Drinetta was born in Boston, William in Hagnaby, Arthur in Stickney and the latter five were born in Withcal, in the heart of the Lincolnshire wolds. In 1881 they were living in Withcal and by the 1891 census they were living in Martin.
Maud died in Lincoln on 28th September 1951. She had married James Howson, who died on 9th March 1952 and is interred with her in plot F150 of Newport Cemetery, Lincoln. Buried alongside them is Maud's sister, Gertrude May who died on 4th August 1940, unmarried.
