John William
1874
John William was born in Lincoln, the eldest son of Edward and Georgina.
In 1901 he was working as a horseman on a farm at North Carlton, near Lincoln and on
9 May 1902 he married (1)Ruth Revill (born 22 August 1873) from Sturton-by-Stow.
The family bible shows that their first-born of three children who survived beyond childhood came into the world at a quarter to two on 2 February 1903:
An unnamed son was born on 30 April 1909 but he died the next day. Florence Louisa was born on 7 March 1910 at Chapel Hill and died three years later on 27 February 1913 at Skirbeck, Boston where she is buried.
Dorothy was born on 8 September 1913 at Thornton le Fen but died on 16 October being interred at Mount Pleasant. Phyllis was born in July 1914, also at Thornton le Fen, buried at Mount Pleasant on 22 July.
John William's wife, Ruth died in 1936 whereupon John married her sister (2) Florence in 1941. 'Florrie' was a widow previously married to a 'Richards'. Both sisters and John William are buried in unmarked graves in Sturton Cemetery, the exact position having been lost by the less than conscientious efforts at record keeping by some unpaid underling of the church.
